In PocketSmith, you can set your feeds to import transactions that were created after a specific date, which lets you fully customise the limits of the transaction history which is brought in when you connect new feeds.
If you have imported everything that’s available from your feed, but you’d like to see older transactions in your PocketSmith, it's easy to import these by uploading bank files 💾
Transaction history limits for initial import
When you first start out using feeds, you have the option to choose how much history you would like to import. While choosing to import all available history will provide the most complete picture, you may wish to only import transactions starting from a certain point in time. This preference will apply to all new accounts you create from your feed.
You can change your preference by going to Manage Feeds > History settings, however the setting will only apply to accounts that are newly created from a feed.
If you later decide you'd like to import more transactions, see Importing older transaction history.
Regardless of your preference for transaction history, the maximum transaction history that can be imported varies between your bank or financial institution, country, and data provider.
Maximum transaction history guidelines, based on data provider:
Yodlee - 1 year or more, but sometimes only 90 days
Basiq (AU) -2 years, per CDR legislation
Salt Edge (UK & EU) - up to 1 year
Akahu (NZ) - up to 1 year, but occasionally only 90 days
Plaid (CA & US) - up to 2 years
This is a guideline only, and your results may vary.
Removing transactions before a specific date
If you'd like to start your transaction history after the initial import start date, you can do so by removing transactions before that date. This involves creating a filter to delete the transactions.
- Create a transactions search that shows all the transactions Older than that date, then click CREATE FILTER:
- Name your filter, select 'Delete' from the dropdown menu and click ADD
- Tick 'Apply filter to XXX matching transactions', then SAVE
- Type DELETE to confirm, then click OK

Note
This section is for the new transaction search.
If you don't see this search in your PocketSmith, you are using the legacy transactions search. Read on to learn how to remove transaction history with the Legacy transactions search.
If you would like to change to the new transactions search, you can do so from User preferences > Your details and options
Removing transactions before a specific date using the legacy transaction search
If you'd like to start your transaction history after the initial import start date, this can be done by removing transactions before a specific date.
First, create a transactions search that shows all the transactions before that date. Using the results of your search, you can then create a Filter to delete these transactions from your PocketSmith.
- Head to the Transactions page
- Click on the Magnifying glass to open the Search panel, and select Dates
- Choose Older than from the drop-down and select the date from which you'd like your transaction history to begin. Then click SEARCH
- Once you have run the search and the transactions that match are displayed on the Transactions page, click MAKE FILTER
- You will then be able to choose what actions you'd like to be applied by the filter. Check Delete
- Tick the checkbox Apply filter to X matching transactions
- Click SAVE FILTER
- You will be prompted to name your filter. Enter a name and click OK to save your filter.
Now, all transactions matching the criteria will be deleted (including any future transactions imported that match the search criteria) 🙌

Tip
If you find the search panel is getting in the way, you can click the magnifying glass icon in order to collapse the search panel whilst maintaining your search results
Importing older transaction history
To import transactions that are older than those brought in by the initial bank feed import (up to 90 days), upload bank files from your online banking into PocketSmith 🗓
